The '82 is nothing but a stripped carcass at this point. This car was given to me by Marc Reveal, a good friend. I met Marc in the winter of '96/'97 at an impromptu 928 owners gathering that I pulled together by contacting owners with e-mail addresses from Austin that happened to be chatting on a global Porsche list server. Marc was driving the '82 at that time. He decided to turn it into a pure, lightweight autocrosser and stripped everything off of the car. The chassis was then moved into his back yard because he had found a deal on a 928 that was already most of the way to the race car that he wanted. He bought Mark Anderson's old race car. It already had a full roll cage, fake door skins, a one piece, carbon fiber nose, wide fenders for race tires and many other significant, race specific modifications. So, the '82 was a dead project for him. He was going to scrap it altogether when I said, "Wait! I'll take it." I mean, I couldn't just let it be hauled off to a junkyard. As far as project cars go, that chassis is a fabulous starting point. So, this thing sat in my backyard at my previous house for a while and then, after completing the new house, it was moved to sit in a bay in the garage...ready to someday become the completed, lightweight racer. But I have since decided to put my time and money into other projects - mostly related to the house. So, I'm passing the stripper on to another 928 enthusiast.
