Mountain biking! (Ride, Crash, Repeat...)

I'm a mountainbiking extremist. I ride 8 to 10 hours every week. This isn't casual riding; it's pretty much flat-out, race-pace hammering! Flesh, muscle, bone and psyche vs. rocks, trees, hills and rocks (yeah, and more rocks). My main riding partners right now are Jeff Lupul, Brian Lambert, Jesse Seitz, Dave Esper, Tracey Horner and Matt Bartlet. We usually end up hooking up with quite a few other local hammerheads, many who are fiercly competitive on the race circuit. I don't really like racing...at least not in official NORBA events. I'm much more into all-mountain riding; "let's go here! Let's go there!" But about half of the other people I find myself often riding with are into the racing scene. Most of them are in the top 10, so there's usually an aggressive pace during our casual rides. Definitely makes me work up a sweat!

For me, one of the greatest things about owning Shannon Hill is having a private trail system to ride on. It took me a long time to build my trails. I have a "loop" that is over 5 miles...and it's...difficult. It took me about 1 hour of cutting and grooming to establish each 1 minute section of trail. We're still adding some new sections. Right now, the total ride time is about 46 minutes, at race-pace...and there's no rest.
