The House

I borrowed a home design program, Data Becker, from a friend, James K (an ex-Tivolier). I spent quite a bit of time working on the floor plans. A most important design consideration was to maximize the views. I started with the Great room. I designed it to provide a panoramic view of the beautiful surrounding hill country and the lake. From that point, the rest of the house was designed primarily for functionality. You know...things like:

  • Put the fridge just outside the Master Bedroom door for those nightly raids.
  • Center the Master Bath in the house for easy access from all points.
  • Put the Laundry Room adjacent to the Master Bath (input) and Master Bedroom (output)!
  • Make sure that there's a clear line of sight from the Kitchen to any TV.
  • Locate the hot water tank close to the Kitchen and Master Bath
  • Give me a huge pantry for the kitchen
  • Make a pass-through window from the Kitchen to the Great Room wet-bar
  • Here's what I came up with...

    This is the first floor.

Second floor. There will be a wrap around deck.

Data Becker mocks the driveway shot! Pretty amazing how similar it is.
